New Partnership to Offer Added Benefits for Mississippi Medicare Recipients
JACKSON, MS, August 14, 2006 – A new partnership between a leading Mississippi managed healthcare company and a nationally recognized Medicare provider is poised to bring new benefits to Mississippi Medicare recipients for the first time.
Jackson-based Mississippi Health Partners -- a managed care organization owned by Baptist Health Systems, St. Dominic Health Services and their panel of quality physicians – has teamed with Nashville-based Windsor MedicareExtra to offer Medicare beneficiaries in central Mississippi more Medicare benefits at a greater savings. Windsor has applied for a contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to offer benefits in Central Mississippi.
“This new partnership was established after Mississippi Health Partners determined that Windsor MedicareExtra can potentially offer Central Mississippians the most complete Medicare benefits plans at significant savings,” said Sandra Person Burns, president of Mississippi Health Partners.
In fact, Windsor MedicareExtra, which holds a contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in select Tennessee counties, was recently presented the 2006 Senior Choice Gold Award by HealthMetrix Research for providing outstanding value in Medicare benefits to the markets it serves.
“Through this important partnership with Mississippi Health Partners; its network of respected hospitals, which includes Baptist and St. Dominic; and its hundreds of highly qualified physicians; we will provide seniors and disabled residents all of the Medicare benefits they deserve at the best price,” said Windsor Chairman Phil Hertik.
Approximately 66,000 Medicare recipients live within Windsor MedicareExtra’s initial Mississippi service area, which will consist of Copiah, Hinds, Lincoln, Rankin and Yazoo counties. Currently, these residents have access to Medicare Part A (hospitalization), Medicare Part B (physicians’ services) and supplemental plans.
Beginning November 15, 2006, Windsor MedicareExtra will offer, once Windsor’s contract with CMS is awarded, all of those current benefits, including preventive services, under their Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Part C. Plus, it will provide excellent prescription drug coverage under Medicare Part D.
“This complete package of Medicare benefits has never before been offered to Medicare recipients in Mississippi, and Windsor is pleased to be the first. We are excited to bring to Mississippians the service, comprehensive benefits, and savings enjoyed by our health plan members in our other markets. Our focus is to keep Medicare beneficiaries in Mississippi healthy, independent, and feeling good,” Hertik said.
Windsor Health Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, TN, is a regional provider of managed healthcare services to eligible enrollees in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Through its subsidiaries, Windsor markets Windsor MedicareExtra, VHP CommunityCare, and Windsor HomeCare Network.
